Anya Releases New EP titled 'Glass Walls'

Vancouver, May 2017- Having lost her sight at just three months of age, Anya learned early on that it was important in life to do more of what you love... And she has been singing ever since. Glass walls represents the individual struggles we all are faced with in life, and how we must persevere, because we can.

Music is freedom: With the release of her debut single ‘Ferris Wheel’, blind singer Anya inspires others to be UNSTOPPABLE

Vancouver, August 2016- First blind female pop singer in Canada, Anya, releases her debut single ‘Ferris Wheel’.  The single is produced by Jeff Dawson, best known for his work on the self-titled album of Daniel Powter, which contained Grammy nominated hit single 'Bad Day'. 'Ferris Wheel' is an uplifting and catchy tune which reminds everyone to break free from the things that may have a hold on them during life's ups and downs.  It is about living fully and freely. "I will dance out in the rain, with or without your permission," sings Anya.  She reminds us that we can rise above life's unique challenges.  She is living proof of it.

Diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity and having lost her sight at three months of age, Anya came into this world with a unique song to sing.  As one of the smallest premature babies born at 26 week’s gestational age in the early 1990s in BC, she was given less than a 50 percent chance of survivalAlready unstoppable, Anya persevered to beat the odds.

Since the very beginning, Anya was determined to break down barriers and illuminate her own path.  As she stumbled around in a world she couldn’t see, she soon found the grace in her step and the light in her voice. Her blindness became her teacher; ironically, it became her beacon of light

Growing up blind, life was often solitary for Anya. Sitting alone at lunch and recess and not being able to participate in playground activities, she struggled with exclusion and the awkwardness of her peers towards her.  Even some teachers showed apprehension in their ability to teach a blind student.  Learning to overcome her own fears and others biases, she sings "I will run into the wind, so baby don't doubt my determination."

Anya experiences her music through pure sound energy and the feeling it invokes within her. "When you can truly feel something without distraction, it is everything", says Anya. She is excited about reflecting this feeling back for the world to hear. "Music is freedom for me," says Anya, "Freedom comes in different forms for different people. I want to help everyone find where that place exists for themselves, because it is from this place that magical things happen.”
